Faith and Believing

Greetings Church. As I was starting my time with the Lord this morning I turned the calendar over to today’s date to read the Bible verse to see what the Lord would have for His Children this morning.

We start in Mark chapter 9 verses 14-29 where Jesus delivered the demon-possessed son when the father said that His disciples couldn’t. In verse 19, Jesus spoke/rebuked the father of the child:

Mark 9:19

“He answered him and said, “O faithless (unbelieving) generation. How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring the boy to Me.”

When the evil spirit saw Jesus he immediately convulsed the child. The father then asked Jesus “if He can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

Verse 23 is very important here Church. Listen carefully to what Jesus says to the unbelieving father:

Verse 23

“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Belief and Faith “HAVE” to go together, Saints.

The child’s father immediately says to Jesus “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.”

Let me pause here for a moment and go to another incident in Luke that is similar but is spoken to Jesus’ disciples themselves.

In Luke chapter 17 verses 1-4 Jesus was teaching on offenses and being a stumbling block to our brothers.

Luke 17: 4-5

“And if he (our brother) sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns, saying, ‘I repent’, you shall forgive him.” (And what do the apostles say to this?)

Verse 5:

“And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”  Just like when the father said, “Help my unbelief.”

Church, how many times have we asked the same question? I know I have asked too many times to count!

Now listen to what Jesus told His apostles in verse 6 of Luke 17:

“So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea’,and it would obey you.”

In both instances they were looking to Jesus for something that was “within” themselves to begin with. Faith and Belief are “in” us to be used by us “already”; “IF” WE are willing and pride or selfishness doesn’t come between us and the Lord.

I’ve come to the conclusion that we can’t just sit back and be satisfied with what we have and are doing in these end days Church, we need to be “moving” forward all the time, not backwards or standing still in our comfort zone. Now is not the time to be comfortable with our relationship with God---Father, Son or Holy Spirit!

Our motivation in life is to be looking forward to our future with our Father and Jesus in New Jerusalem; but while we are here on earth, as Jesus was, we need to live and have the ‘Christ kind of faith’ to triumph as He did here. God has ALREADY given us this kind of Faith when Jesus paid for it on the Cross. We just don’t have the confidence in God or ourselves to prove our love for Him with actions or words sometimes!

Saints, let me ask a question here. When we pray for something-most of the time-are we just doing it out of what we know we are supposed to do; using words we were told to say in a prayer? Think about it Church. We usually don’t do it out of a giving/loving heart within ourselves, but out of what we were told to do or say.

Can we get to the point of living with our hearts/spirits instead of what we were told to do? Our ‘Born Again Heart’ already belongs to Our Father! Are we really listening to it? I believe THAT is when God can communicate with us directly-spirit to Spirit because then we will KNOW what we do and say for good “will” happen- immediately by faith, because we will “know” it is NOT US but God working through us; Jesus’ whole life was His Father working through Him. Aren’t we supposed to be ‘as Jesus was’ when He was here on earth?

That mountain “will” move, that mulberry tree “will” be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea-it will obey you. When we pray through a loving heart-God is the One who is doing the work through us for His and our good! TRUST, have FAITH, and BELIVE in the One Who created us for Himself.

I know it’s hard to comprehend now, but we do need to keep moving in that direction every day while we are here on earth. Honest and open communication between our Father and us, His Children, is a necessary thing for this “time” in God’s Plan and our lives.

Our hearts/spirits and our minds need to be so focused on hearing (Romans 10:17) that we will know that we are walking by faith not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) and that ‘He who is “in” you/us is greater than he who is in the world.’ (I John 4:4)

It is “ALL” in God’s Word, Church; read, listen and do as Jesus did here on earth. Too much to ask? Too much to do? No!!! A thousand times no! It doesn’t compare to what He did for us already!
