And our journey through it.
Yielding
Good morning brothers and sisters in Christ. Today the Lord had me go to Romans (one of my favorite Books of the Bible) specifically chapter 12:1-2 and also Pastor Hagee’s words of wisdom for those verses, which I believe I’ve written on before but I think needs to be reviewed again in the light of the worldly situations today. First let’s read the Word: (our responsibilities toward God)
Romans 12:1-2
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Now Church, I’d like to look at how Pastor Hagee interprets these verses. It is an insight that caught my mind with truths that I would like to share.
“Confession of sin in itself is not enough to enable the believer to automatically walk in the Spirit. He must then become a “yielded instrument” for God’s service. What is to be yielded is simply ‘himself’ (Romans 6:13; James 4:7). This involves both the body (Romans 12:1; I Corinthians 6:20) “AND” the mind (Romans 12:2), since it is with the body that actions conceive in the mind are carried out and with the mind that they are formulated—thus, one’s whole being must be presented by a decisive act of the will to God for His service.”
Saints, the Bible actually says to ‘present our bodies’ (Romans 12:1) as a ‘living sacrifice’; that truth includes our wills and our minds which are definitely a part of our bodies, and since we were born into sin the renewing of our minds, in the Word, is of the upmost priority in our lives.
O. K. Church let’s put things in perspective here. Everyone that was born after Adam and Eve was born into sin because of their disobedience to God. Everyone that is except God’s Son—Jesus Christ. Our sins were put on a sinless Man/God—Jesus Christ. No other Man, who was a man, was ever born without sin except Jesus Christ. Jesus was not conceived by an earthly father, but a Heavenly Father; a Father who Loves His Creation so much that He allowed His Son to be a Sacrifice (Blood Sacrifice) to save His Creations from eternal damnation.
Just as when God gave Israel the Laws of “Right” living through the Commandments---we today have those same commandments but instead of animal blood sacrifices, which had to be done every year for the remission of sin, we were given the ultimate sin sacrifice—God’s Son’s Sinless Blood Sacrifice. This Blood Sacrifice would last throughout Eternity enabling God’s Children to Live (Spiritually) throughout Eternity also. Glory! (Hebrews 2:9)
God’s Commandments and Laws are still in force today, but are we giving them “our” reasonable service?
God’s Mercy knows “no depth”.
Romans 11:33 and 36
“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! (Proverbs 2:6) How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” “For of Him and through Him and to Him are ALL THINGS, to whom be glory forever. Amen!”
Saints, we are not our own-we are God’s Children.
I Corinthians 6:19
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is “in” you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” We were bought at a Price Church. Jesus’ Blood bought us.
Yielding ourselves; spirit, soul, mind and body “IS” our reasonable service to our Father God.
In conclusion to this yielding message I’d like to quote Pastor Hagee’s words for more understanding through the Word.
“Finally, ‘yielding’ includes transformation of the mind. This work is said to be accomplished through a lifetime of ‘renewing’ the mind. (Romans 12:2) Man’s mind has been darkened by sin (Romans 8:7; Col. 1:21) and must be brought to the place where it thinks as God thinks. (Ephesians 4:23) (The New Man thinking/seeing in God’s perspective.) This renewing is said to come especially through prayer to God in ‘EVERYTHING’ (Phil. 4:6,7) and through constant meditation on the Word of God. (Psalm 119:1) This transformation is a lifetime process that will not be completed until we are with Christ (Phil. 1:6; I John 3:2). Along life’s way, however, it brings a peace and delight that can only come from having embraced the mind of Christ.”
Church, the world today needs a large dose of God’s Peace and if “His” Children don’t have that Peace and Love within ourselves it doesn’t bode well for God’s Creation. It all starts with us Saints; our yielding and reasonable service to the Perfect Will of God.
