WORLDLINESS AND WHAT IT COSTS III

In the last eleven verses of chapter six, I believe, Jesus was trying to get His disciples and the people to realize how easy our enemy can deceive us when we let him.  Making things look too good to be true, therefore distorting both.

Matthew 6:24 (NKJ)  (Jesus speaking)

Vs. “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

First let me give you the dictionary meaning of mammon which there are two. The first is the lower case use of mammon which means: 1. riches or material wealth thought of as an evil.  2. greed for wealth. The upper case use of Mammon in the dictionary means: a personification of riches as an evil spirit or god, or a soulless worldly force.  (Milton claimed: Mammon, the last erected spirit that fell from heaven.)

Church, we can only have one Master. The love we have for our Father must NEVER be split!  We can’t survive if we do this. The Bible says that our God is a jealous God. (Deut. 5:9 I am a jealous God. And Exodus 20:5 and more.)  God’s Love and loyalties are not divided towards His Children; neither should our love and loyalty be divided towards God.

God has said He would be with us ALWAYS; and God CANNOT lie.  One of God’s Names is: Jehova Jireh—God is our Provider. Not just in big things like our lives, but in “ALL” things. He said not to worry just TRUST Him.

Matthew 6:25  (Luke 12:30) & 33-34

Vs. 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”

Luke 12:30

Vs. 30  “For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and our Father knows that you need these things.”

Matthew 6:33-34

Vs.  33  “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things “shall” be added to you.”

Vs. 34  “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”  (Hence the saying/prayer of: “One day at a time, Lord Jesus.” Comes into my mind.)

God’s Promises are very plain in verses 24-34.  He WILL provide as long as “WE” are seeking Him and His righteousness for our lives.  Mammon doesn’t have to be one of our masters.

“Self” and “I wants” are masters also.  Think about it Church.  Are we putting “self” and “I wants” before Our Provider?  Are we allowing selfishness and the enemy to cancel out God’s Provisions for His Family?  If we are, we need to ask God for forgiveness and turn it back around to serving our One and TRUE Master--------JESUS CHRIST!

TRUST AND BELIEVE GOD
