WORLDLINESS AND WHAT IT COST II

The next two verses in Matthew chapter six, I believe, deals with our eyes and what we “see” in the natural world.  Our natural eyes have a “great” impact on how our brain and emotions react.  And I think Jesus, in His teaching in these two verses, is trying to impress on us how easy it is for us to depend on our physical “sight” rather than our spiritual “sight”.

Matthew 6:22-23
Vs. 22  “The eye is the lamp of the body; if therefore your eye is                        sound, your whole body will be illuminated.”
Vs. 23 “But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be in                           darkness.  Consequently, if your sight is defective, all your                   body will be darkness.”

Our physical minds control our physical bodies.  And our physical eyes usually control our physical minds.  Physical to physical.  The natural/worldly way.  But realize, Church, that we also have a “spirit body”.  And that is how God deals with us-----Spirit to spirit.  God is a Spirit and He connects with us through our spirit with His Spirit.  Now, Church, let’s look at what our physical eyes are “seeing” in the world today.  Most of it is horribly negative in nature.  I could list countless things that are bombarding our minds every minute of every day, but I won’t, that would be giving our enemy praise and glory so I refuse to do that. Jesus is positive so we think on the positive as the Word says.

We, through our wills, can filter out what our eves are sending to our brains.  If we watch trash and darkness, that is what our minds will be filled with and it will also affect our physical bodies.  Darkness feeds darkness.  But “Light” dispels darkness.  Where there is “Light” there can be “no” darkness.  Darkness CAN’T penetrate Light.  Therefore, when the lamp of your body (your eyes) is sound (light filled) then our whole body “WILL” be illuminated.

I’m not saying to shut our eyes to what is happening in the world, because we are here for a season, but filter out what we are “seeing” through Gods Spirit “in” us.  And reading God’s Word for ourselves will be giving us the Light to dispel the darkness.  God is TRUTH and He will give us the TRUTH in what we “see”, “hear”, and “feel” if we allow Him to use us as His Word says.  We have to totally depend on Him “ALWAYS” not just taking parts of our lives and giving it to Him.  He wants “ALL” of us.  God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died for us. Our lives are a small price compared to that sacrifice.  Think about it Church.
The cost of worldliness is way too much to pay to miss out on our chance to be in the Father’s Family for forever!!!
