And our journey through it.
Why Psalms
Good morning fellow brothers and sisters. This beautiful day ‘that the Lord has made’ has me going back to the Book of Psalms again. Most all of Psalms was King David’s “songs” to His God; communication, fellowship, the pouring out of his heart to the One he TRUSTED most.
As Pastor Hagee puts it:
“The Book of Psalms includes many subject matters and topics; jubilation, war, peace, worship, judgment, messianic prophecy, praise, lamentations, and much more. King David had a very intense life. We have to remember here that God gave David the Blessings for song writing because most of the Book of Psalms are his songs. In fact ‘The Psalms were set to the accompaniment of stringed instruments and served as the temple hymnbook and devotional guide for the Jewish people.”
That said Church, let’s look at some of the words of wisdom and praise from this precious Book.
Psalm 34:1
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Psalm 34:8
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”
I could go on and on Church, but read for yourself the wonderful Words from our God in Psalms.
Now, everything was not always smooth sailing with King David, we all know his life struggles with Saul and the Nation of Israel, and his adultery but after His repentance God did call him ‘a man after His own heart’. Why? Because David believed and trusted God!
David stood up to problems in his life by placing “ALL” his trust in His God. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3: 5,6)
Remember when David was playing his harp and Saul threw the javelin at him—running was not an option for David; he had to know in his heart, his God was there with him.
Let’s think of that javelin as the evils of this world, Church. We can’t run away from them, they are real, they are here---but our God is GREATER than “all” this world. And with Him living and abiding in us through His Spirit –we are more than conquers of any and all situations.
We need to stand up to life by realizing who we are “and” Whose we are. We are Children of the Most High God. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name.” (John 1:12)
Reading, listening and talking to our Lord and Savior is the “key” to being able to stand fast in these end times. The Book of Psalms helps us to realize that God is God through “ALL” things. We just need to give our hearts over to the One Who created us. We can do this, Saints.
