And our journey through it.
What We Have In God
What a glorious morning God has given to us, Church. As I’m sitting here talking to the Lord, basking in His Love and writing; I can hear a gentle rain falling outside. He is allowing me to “see” and feel His Love even in the midst of a world in turmoil and confusion; my heart/spirit still belongs to Him—I belong to Him, that is where my peace comes from.
When I first sat down to get quiet with the Lord this morning, as always, I began my day in praise and thankfulness to My Father. No matter what is happening in our lives, our families lives, even the world itself, we need to start EVERY day in Praise to the One Who made us and saved us for His Own—our Father God; The Trinity in our lives. Glory!!!
Now let me tell you how He allowed me to “see” His Love this morning as well as feel it. I’ve already mentioned before how I start my mornings by getting still, quoting the Word (Psalm 19: 14; Proverbs 2:6; 2 Timothy 1:7 for myself); then reading God’s Word; my Christian calendar, and my devotionals. The calendar usually comes first to see what day it is.
To my surprise it had a beautiful picture (I’ll explain the picture in a minute) and the scripture that helped me in understanding the signature sentence ending all of God’s/ my papers. But first let me tell you of the picture that I’m still looking at, and how it is filling my heart with joy.
The picture is of a Bearded Iris. It is purple in color (a royal color) and the center is a “bright yellow”; a single flower. The background is all green like it is in a field somewhere and the photographer even caught the rain drops falling around the flower. Beautiful in itself, but it is the butterfly that caught my attention. This bright yellow, red and black butterfly is hanging onto one of the petals of the flower—almost like his life depends on it with the rain falling. The Lord instantly put the spiritual into my mind. (Thank You, Jesus.)
The purple flower represents the Triune God; Royal with the center full of Light and Love. The butterfly is us; God’s People and Children heading to the center of the flower for spiritual food and comforting Love. The rain is the world around us trying to separate us from the flower(God). But Church, if we are focused on the center Light of The Father, He is able to keep us holding on by His Spirit “IN” us. Hallelujah!
The scripture adds God’s Word to the Truth of the picture, to me. It is only one scripture but as always we need to read around that one scripture to get the whole picture. The lone scripture is I John 4:16. I’ll copy the scriptures around it to get the understanding, I believe, God wants us to have.
I John 4:15-19 (Read to the end of the chapter yourself for an even greater understanding of God’s Love.)
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have “known” and “believed” the Love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (Which means to me that we look beyond the “terror fear” to see/focus on God’s Love for us to get us through anything and everything.) We love because He first loved us.” (The underlined is verse 16.) Powerful Words, Church!
Now before we end I’d like to go to a reference that Pastor Hagee put with that scripture.
I John 3:24
“Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”
All of God’s Words should impact us with His Truth and understanding. It is a process we all need to be learning one step at a time. If we happen to take a wrong or misstep—STOP--don’t back up just get quiet and listen to God’s Spirit “IN” us for the answer and the peace that comes with the answer. Then take strength from the Spirit and “MOVE” forward again.
So what do we have in God, Saints? We have His Spirit (John 14:16-17; 26; and Romans 8:11) and a forever future with Him. (John 17:20-26: Christ prays for all believers----that is us, Church.)
That determined butterfly “WILL” get to the center of that flower/light; and so will we, Church, by being as determined and persistent and focused on our future with our Father.
