LIVING UP TO GOD'S WORD AND PROMISES

I believe in Simon Peter’s salutation to the Church, in the Book of 2nd Peter, he is trying to convince God’s People that we already have the divine power for everyday living through His Word and Promises.

2 Peter 1: 1(in part)-4

“To those who have received like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

It goes on to say in the first chapter of 2nd Peter, that if we are diligent in seeking His Promises and Divine Nature it will add to our faith; virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness and Love.  And Peter finishes this by telling us in chapter 1 verse 8:

“ For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We are given EVERYTHING we need for a Godly life for our short stay here on earth through our knowledge of Jesus, Who called us to Himself by His Death and Resurrection.  God’s Word and God’s Promises are TRUE.

Through God’s Love and His sacrifice for us, we are destine to win “IF” (and that is a “big” IF) “we” take our own wills and responsibilities and hand them over to God, putting ourselves in God’s Hands.

In Paul’s letter to the Corinthian Church he tells us even more about being separate from the ungodly by taking God’s Promises and Word and living “in” them and Him.

2 Corinthians 7:1

"Therefore having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

Again, I like the way Oswald Chambers commented on this verse:

“God’s perspective is that through His promises “I” will come to recognize His claim of ownership on “me”.  Christ always maintained an inner vigilance to submit His Spirit “continually” to His Father.  I also have the responsibility to keep my spirit in agreement with His Spirit.  (Spirit to spirit).  When I do, Jesus gradually lifts me up to the level where He lived---a level of perfect submission to His Father’s Will.”

WOW!  How awesome is that!!?  Think about that Church!  Now, ask ourselves this question:  Is God having His way with me, and are people beginning to “see” God in my life more and more?  Let’s be truthful and honest with ourselves in this question, Saints.  Then read for ourselves God’s Word and Promises (Psalm 91).  The answer to another question will be answered also, “What would Jesus do?" (WWJD).  We will know because God is telling us through His Word.  Remember again what we gain by seeking His Promises and Divine Nature and that starts by:
