And our journey through it.
MURDER/ANGER
Another one of the subjects that Jesus touched on in Matthew 5 was murder. A very serious sin in judgment. Now, believe it or not, God puts the sin of anger in as much judgment as the sin of murder!
Matthew 5:21 (Jesus Speaks)
21: “You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not murder (Exodus 20:13 and Deutoronomy 5:17) and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.””
22. “But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, Raca! shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, “You fool! shall be in danger of hell fire.
Raca (ra-ka; Greek from aram. Reza, empty, worthless good-for-nothing), a very common term of approbrium (the disgrace or reproach caused by shameful conduct; infamy; scorn; abuse.) (page 1359 L-Z) denoting a certain looseness of life and manners. It differs from “fool”, which follows in that the latter conveys the idea of impious, godless, because such a one neglects and despises what relates to salvation. Thus there would be a greater criminality in calling a man a “fool”, since foolishness in Scripture is the opposite of spiritual wisdom. (page 907)
So, what I’m getting out of this is that when someone is angry with someone else it is as bad a sin as actually doing grave harm to another individual. Anger is a personal attack to another created human creature that God made. It is done out of “self” emotions which is contrary to God’s Love. Therefore it is not of God and cannot be a Godly trait.
When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden it gave the enemy a foot-hold into our emotions. (all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God-Romans 3:23). But that doesn’t mean we – God’s children have to accept that sin – Christ paid the Blood price for all our sins. We need to realize within ourselves (our wills) that I was forgiven through Gods Love and I don’t have to accept anything contrary to God. Refuse any negative by saying NO! I refuse that negative and accept the positive from God. Anger is a very destructive emotion; it hurts and starts to destroy the person themselves who accept that negative emotion It starts to tear away at “self” instead of hurting the person or thing the emotion is being used against. When the child of God displays anger it goes contrary to God’s Love and puts that person under condemnation. And what does the God’s Word say about condemnation?
Romans 8:1-2
1. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in “Christ Jesus who do not walk
according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me/us free from the law of sin and death.
The Spirit delivers from the power of the flesh. Anger is a fleshly emotion and Christ already paid for that sin.
Romans 8:3-4
3. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh. God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin, “He” condemned sin in the flesh,
4. that the righteous requirements of the law might be fulfilled “In” us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit! (God’s Spirit in “us”)
So; don’t give in to the enemy – anger; turn it around and give in to Gods Love, Mercy, and Compassion – now that is Pleasing to God!!!
