And our journey through it.
THE CROSS
Every Easter Churches all over the world celebrate the resurrection story from the Bible. Even movies were made to tell the story; but most of the stories and movies were only superficial in their content. Not many gave the true reason of the cross from God’s point of view. I keep going back to Oswald Chambers writing for a lot of my thoughts and writings because he seems to put the Bible into a “NOW” perspective for the Church. God gifted him with an insight into His Words. Just as God told me in 2012 to “walk freely in His thoughts and listen to my heart through His thoughts and words.” It’s been a very uplifting and freeing experience. It’s put the Bible, Gods Word, into a whole new perspective experience for me. Let’s walk on and I’ll show you.
I Peter 2:24
“Who Himself (Christ) bore our sins in His own body on the tree (Cross), that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness by whose stripes (wounds) you were healed.”
I know many churches concentrate on the last part of this verse,: by whose stripes (wounds) you were healed.” Which is an absolute TRUTH from God’s Word and will truthfully work, by Faith, for any child of God “willing” to trust God with their “health”. But we wouldn’t have the second part of that verse without the very important first part of that verse.
Christ’s wounded body on that Cross is why we can die to our sins and still live for eternity as God’s Family. And please also notice that that word sin is in a plural form. When Christ died for “ALL” of our sins (once and for all) we were reunited with our Father through Christ’s Blood sacrifice and atonement. Even the sins we haven’t committed as of yet; “IF” we acknowledge our sins and ask forgiveness for them. “God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.” Christ’s Blood gave us that TRUTH on the Cross! God’s Son, the sinless Man, was the only One to fulfill that Promise from God!
Now, let me tell you how Oswald Chambers wrote about that verse in I Peter 2:24:
“Never associate the idea of martyrdom with the Cross of Christ. It was the supreme triumph, and it shook the very foundations of hell. The Cross is the central event in time and eternity, and the answer to all the problems of both. The heart of salvation is the Cross of Christ. The reason salvation is so easy to obtain is that it cost God so much. The Cross was the place where God and sinful man merged with a tremendous collision and where the way to “Life” was opened. But all the cost and pain of the collision was absorbed by the Heart of God!”
How powerful is that Church! Can we comprehend the HEART of God? We can’t in the natural because our minds can’t work in their full extent within our physical bodies. But if we turn to our spirits and look Spirit to spirit, we can gain a portion of that Love relationship with our God and Creator. Isn’t that the most important thing in our lives today? It should be!!!
Without the “Cross” we, as Children of God, wouldn’t be Children of God. Think about it Church!
Reading God’s Word and praying (communicating) with God is the “PATH” to knowing and understanding and living in God’s Heart. Every time I think about that I get uplifted and excited in these last days. We will soon come face to Face with God’s Love and Heart! WOW! Can we truly say “Come quickly Lord”. Or are we saying, “wait Lord, not yet, I want to do this or do that or I haven’t accomplished this or that in my life yet. Does the “I, I, I” syndrome come in at that time? What did Jesus say when His time had come to die and set us free? “Not My will, but Thy will be done.”
Jesus is God’s Son just as we are Children of God. We need to walk, as Christ did, as Children of God. How? By:
