And our journey through it.
The Wedding Garment
Several days ago I was reading in Matthew chapter 22, the sub-title is: ‘Parable of the Marriage Feast’. I’d like to tell you what the Lord revealed to me in that parable in verses 1-14. Please read it for yourself to get an understanding, Church.
Jesus was speaking to the chief priests, Pharisees and the people here about what the kingdom of heaven is like, in essence, a parable.
In the parable the king had arranged a marriage for his son and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding to come. But none who were invited were willing to come. They even treated his servants badly and killed some of them. When the king heard what was done, he was furious and sent his armies to destroy them. He then said to his servants that since the invited guests were not worthy to come he sent his servants to anyone who wanted to come to invite them, ‘all whom they found, both bad and good’. The wedding hall was filled with guests!
Matthew 22:11-14
“But when the king came in to see the guests, he “saw” a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. (Romans 3:19) Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth’. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
This was a parable, I believe, of the Jewish Nation and the Gentile nation. Jesus was sent to the Jewish Nation first but they, God’s Chosen People, were not willing to accept Him as Who He was—the Son of God. So God gave the invitation to “EVERYONE” else! Thank You, Jesus!
Now, let me explain what I asked the Lord about as I was reading these scriptures:
How did the king know that that one man had no wedding garment? The wedding hall was filled with both good and bad guests. The enlightenment I was given to my question was: ‘The king (King) was “seeing” in the Spirit not in the natural’ So what is the wedding garment?
Colossians 3:10,12 (The New Man)
“And have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.”
I now know what the wedding garment is: It is the Position of the Believer—in putting off the old man and putting on the new man, (Colossians 3:1-17) we have our wedding garment secure in Christ! The ‘New Man’ “IS” the wedding garment!
Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do “ALL” in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
Do we have our wedding garments on and secure?
I pray so! How can we be secure? By:
