The Light of Life

     Good morning, Church. My reading today was in John the 8th chapter where Jesus said He was the Light of the world. I was intrigued and wanted to know more so I went to one of my devotionals. But let’s get the Word down first.

John 8:12

     “Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.”

     I like the way Bruce Wilkinson put it in his ‘Closer Walk Devotional’:

     “As the sun is to physical life, so the Son is to spiritual life. Without light, life is impossible; without Christ, a person walks in the darkness of spiritual death.” An awesome Truth, Saints.

     Let’s get more Word to help us understand, Church.

John 3: 19,21 (Jesus talking)

     “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God”

     Also in the first chapter of John where it tells us of the preincarnate work of Christ.

John 1: 3-5

     “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was light, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.”

     The Word goes on to describe who John the Baptist was--The fore-runner of Christ.

John 1:6-8

     “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through Him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.”

     Jesus “IS” the True Light that gives Light to every man who comes into the world. (John 1:9) We can accept That Light or reject That Light. It’s up to us; it is our choice and decision to make. (Our wills again, Church)

     Even in the last Book of the Bible it tells us of His Light.

Revelation 21:23 (Talking about New Jerusalem when the New Heaven and Earth are Created.)

     “And the city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine for the very glory of God illuminated it, and the Lamb is its light.”

How awesome is that, Church! We’ve learned that Jesus is our Light, He has given us all His Light, and we will be living in His Light in our Forever Life with Him! Glory to God!!

     I’d like to finish this paper with a hymn from Charles Wesley if I may. It uplifted my heart with encouragement. I hope it will for you too.

“Christ, whose glory fills the skies;

Christ, the true, the only light,

Sun of Righteousness, arise,

Triumph o’re the shades of night;

Dayspring from on high, be near;

Daystar in my heart appear!

Dark and cheerless is the morn

unaccompanied by Thee;

Joyless is the day’s return

Till Thy mercy’s beams I see;

As they inward light impart,

cheer my eyes and warm my heart.

Visit then, this soul of mine;

Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;

Fill me, Radiancy divine;

Scatter all my unbelief;

More and more thyself display,

Shining to the perfect day!

     Now that is a hymn/prayer we all need to be praying in these last days, Church.

     Lord, let Your Light shine through me to Your People with Hope unequal—my prayer---how about you?

How can we start every day?    By:
