And our journey through it.
Devotion
Devotion-noun: Deep, steady affection; loyalty; faithfulness.
Greetings Church. Today I’ve started out our paper with a definition of the word devotion, which is the word I got when I was reading in Galatians, especially in chapter two verse 20. To me Paul was telling the people of Galatia that there is a line that can be crossed if you start believing in the law and yourself instead of having faith in our Creator God. Paul was telling the people of his “living” for God—his devotion to his Lord and Savior.
Galatians 2: 19-20
“For I through the law died to the law (Romans 8:2) that I might live to God.” (Romans 6: 11;14) Then Paul states a TRUTH and a FACT that we “all” need to embrace and to enhance ‘our’ devotion to God.
Verse 20:
“I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives “in” me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by “FAITH” in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Now that Church, is “total devotion” for God.
Christ’s devotion and Love for His People was proven on that Cross at Calvary. In fact Christ giving His Life for sinful man is so much More than the definition of devotion in a dictionary—it is a TOTAL heart/spirit thing and no earthly words can describe that kind of devotion and love—we have to take it by Faith in Christ.
How can we do this in today’s world? By “NOT” being conformed to this world, but being transformed by the renewing of our minds, so we can prove what is that good and acceptable and PERFECT will of God. (Romans 12:2)
Church, this is our reasonable service for the God that loves us enough to die “FOR” us.
Devotion can’t be one sided in our relationship with God. “Our” loyalty, faithfulness and deep steady affection isn’t any where near as perfect as God’s is for us---BUT we can do our best in accepting His Love for us!
