And our journey through it.
IS GOD FIRST OR SECOND IN OUR LIVES?
As I was being quiet before the Lord today, I believe He dropped a word into my heart. I would like to share it with you if I may because it might not only be for just me.
As always when I’m still with the Lord in the mornings I have pen and paper right there with me. The sentence that came to my heart was:
“Don’t make snap decisions or judgment calls without God.”
Wow! O.K. Lord, what are You trying to get across to me? Is something going to come up that is going to impact my life in some way? Is it going to be life changing? On and on the questions came to me, what, what, what? But you know Church, those weren’t the questions I should have been asking. I should have been saying. “Forgive me Lord for getting so wrapped up in things that I’m not listening to your Spirit’s direction for my life. I’ve been trying to take things into my own hands and leaving “You” out of my decisions lately, even when the situations come quickly, “You” have to be first instead of second in my reasoning and thinking.” I was letting “life situations” come between me and my Lord, trying to figure it all out by myself. WRONG!
As always Saint first, we need to realize that we have left God’s Path for us and wondered away from God’s leading for our lives and I believe this is the hardest part to recognize in our day to day living. Our senses tell us one thing and our spirits tell us another thing, unfortunately they do not always match.
In realizing this, we now come to the repentance part in our lives, giving it ALL back over into the Hands of the One who already has our lives. After all, that is what the Holy Spirit “in” us is doing with our spirits and that was what we asked for when we first gave our lives over to our God, wasn’t it, repentance then forgiveness?
God is the only One that knows our lives; front to back; inside and out. As Born again Children of God, we need to realize this and not get into the rut of the world trying to do things ourselves without God’s guidance. Either situations are not happening fast enough for us or things aren’t going the way “we” want them to go. Here comes the “me” “me”, “I” “I” syndrome again. STOP!
When we gave our hearts and lives over to God our lives were not our own anymore, we accepted the Blood Sacrifice that Jesus paid on the Cross for us. Jesus made that “communication bridge” between us and God working again; which was broken since Adam and Eve. That is a long time to be estranged from God. God NEVER let us go in all that time! He just had His Plan unfolding for us through ALL those years, and God’s Spirit has been with us through every step we took.
Saints, God HAS to be first in our lives; with open communication through His Son being the “ONLY” way to survive here on Earth through this season in time.
In conclusion Church, doing things our way is saying to God, “I don’t need You, I can take care of things myself.” Isn’t that the way the world is heading now? It’s all about what we want not what we need, and Saints, it isn’t going to be pretty for the world in these last days---just look and read Revelations for yourself. Chaos will reign; but our steadfast love and commitment to our Savior, Jesus Christ WILL keep us, whether in life or death, and that decision is up to God and only God when we are His.
Again Church, reading God’s word, listening to the Holy Spirit “in” us and giving our thoughts and wills over to God is the path we NEED to be on. Have we drifted from that path? Take a stand and so “NO” to our enemy Satan, and repent and go on again with the Lord as first and foremost in our hearts, minds, and lives. With God in control---who can be against us? (Romans 8:30-31)
Another scripture for putting God first is:
James 4:7
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
And last but not least the scripture from Job that tells us everything about ourselves:
Job 33:4
“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” (Genesis 2:7) God’s Breath gives me life, what an awesome statement of TRUTH that is!
So Church, when we are quiet before the Lord, breath in His life and get strength from the knowledge that WE ARE “HIS”! How? By:
