WAITING

Good morning, Church. As I was reading this morning in the Word and in Bruce Wilkinson’s devotional I was struck by the verses in John the 5th chapter verses 1-9 about Christ healing the paralytic man. Read it for yourself and see what you think about it.

I believe as Pastor Wilkinson does.

“There are two types of waiting: waiting because you HAVE to, and waiting because you WANT to.”

Everyone at the pool at Bethesda were waiting because they had to for healing. When the angel troubled the water the first one in was healed. The man that Jesus healed had his infirmity for thirty-eight years! No one was able to get him into the waters first. That is a LONG wait, Church!

We are all waiting. But it is the condition of our waiting that counts, Saints! Are we waiting in patience, hope, contentment for the assurance that God will redeem His Promises to us, or are we fretful, impatient, distrustful, and complaining in our waiting? One waiting wears us out, the other waiting lifts us up and encourages us.

I believe we are supposed to wait and watch while we work for the Lord. Waiting and watching alone won’t help our souls to become strong in Christ. We need to put hands and feet to our waiting. That means reading, meditating and studying God’s Word for ourselves. Communication with    God as Jesus did everyday of His Life here on earth. He “IS” our example. Aren’t we supposed to be God’s Hands and Feet—Jesus was.

God is faithful to help us with our working for Him by giving us His Spirit “IN” us. Our communication with the Father is through His Spirit working with our spirits.

Church, I don’t believe we are supposed to be still or stagnant while we wait and watch. I believe we need to “MOVE” in our waiting. Movement is the decision within ourselves (our wills) to take forward steps into our future with the Lord. I believe spiritual steps are to come first then natural steps are given by the Lord. The Holy Spirit “IN” us will lead, guide, and direct that aspect of our lives and walk. (Romans 8:8-11)

Working while waiting can consist of different things. Some people are actually out in the public with “hands on” work being done with our neighbors. Others may be “house bound” waiters with limited personal contact with our neighbors. Either way we can be the servants God wants us to be in whatever we do. As long as there is “OPEN” communication between us and our Creator God, our waiting and watching will be rewarded with joy unspeakable in our relationship with Him, that in turn helps others to “see” His Light “in” us.
Expectant waiting and watching is necessary in our spiritual and natural walk with the Lord, then our waiting will be in the “Strength of our Hope”. And where IS our Hope—in the Lord Jesus Christ—of course!!!
