And our journey through it.
God's Blessings
In the beginning of Matthew chapter 5 as Jesus was teaching His disciples and the people on the mountain, He began by giving His people the many blessings that would be theirs if they accept Gods guidance in their lives! For everything points to the Kingdom of Heaven. Read the verses and let your heart and spirit “see” all the Blessings that God has waiting for us!
Matthew 5: 2-12
2 Then He (Jesus) opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 Blessed are the gentle in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
4 #Blessed are the sufferers; for they shall be comforted.
5 #Blessed are the kind-hearted, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
8 #Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God— Himself.
9 #Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be declared God’s own sons
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Jesus is trying to prepare us for what His people are going through in our days on earth. He wants us to look through the many trials and tribulations this earthly life can cause us, and “see” the end result---our “forever life” with the Father and Son.
#2 The dictionary says the definition of blessed is: enjoying the favor of heaven; fortunate
#3 In the Unger Bible Dictionary, blessings were partly defined as:
Since God is eternal and omnipresent (present everywhere at the same time), His omniscience (complete or infinite knowledge), and omnipotence (complete power;) causes His Blessings to avail in the present life in respect to all things, and also in the life to come.
So the Blessings from Heaven are being given to us here on earth if we accept them through His Spirit. Being gentle in spirit; kind-hearted; those who suffer; merciful; pure in heart; peacemakers; those who are persecuted. All the positives from heaven were given to us to come against the negative the enemy is throwing at us. If we hunger and thirst for righteousness----we WILL be filled!!! And if we are peacemakers we WILL be declared God’s own sons! All these things can be achieved if our hearts are surrounded with God’s Love and Mercy. When we give our hearts and lives to the Lord all these Blessings can be ours to help us through this “season” on earth! We need to rejoice and be glad when persecution and evil comes our way for Christs’ sake; because our reward WILL be in heaven just as the persecuted prophets were before us----WE WILL BE!
