And our journey through it.
No Longer Under a Tutor
Greetings Church. As I was reading in the Book of Galatians this morning, I was reading about the law and our faith.
Paul wrote to the Galatians because they seemed to be moving in the direction of faith by works instead of trusting God for their Blessings and spreading the Gospel of faith. His letter sent forth a message: “Blessings come from God on the basis of faith, not law.” The Galatians were departing from the Gospel of Grace instead of remembering that Abraham was justified by Faith, not by works.
Galatians 2:19-21 (Paul talking)
“For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
Paul then calls them foolish for letting ‘tinkling ears’ pull them away from the truth; he then asks them a question:
Galatians 3:2-3,5
“This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”
Verse 5:
“Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” (Romans 10:17)
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” (Deuteronomy 21:23)
“Now, the Abrahamic Covenant is not voided by the law. (Read chapter 3 verses 15-18 to understand this statement, Church.) The Law was given to drive us to Faith.” (Romans 3:23-25; 28)
Galatians 3:19-25
“What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the SEED should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. (Christ Jesus---I Timothy 2:5) Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. (Romans 3:29) Is the law then against the promised of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given Life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.” (Why?)
Verse 26:
“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”
Now Church, not being under a tutor doesn’t mean we ignore or disregard the teachings of the tutor. The law set the guide lines for our lives to be lived in righteousness for our God; and since Jesus Christ our mediator has given us the rules of the Law, Matthew chapters 5 through 7, and through His Grace we can come to our God ourselves; we have all the rights of a son of God.
If that doesn’t increase our faith in God, I don’t know what will. If we are a Born Again Child of God, we are not our own,(Galatians 2:20) we are God’s, we belong to Him. (John 1:12-13) Our Father God becomes our ‘Abba, Father’ because of the Righteous Blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. Can we accept this TRUTH for ourselves, Saints: I believe we can by Faith!!
