FAITH IS TRUST AND BELIEF IN GOD

In all of my writings I usually try to end with the words, “Trust and Believe God”.  To me that statement points directly to “Faith”, every individual’s belief in a Supreme God of All Creation.

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the realization of things hoped for, the evidence (confidence) of things not seen.”

By our faith in God we understand that the worlds (ages) were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible (vs. 3).  The total concept of a Supreme Being (God) making everything is hard for mankind’s mind to capture unless they have faith.

The encyclopedia says faith is a noun with three definitions:

  • A believing without proof; trust

  • Belief in God (Hebrews 11:1); religion; or spiritual things (James 2:26)

  • Religion; the Christian faith, the Jewish faith.

The word belief in the dictionary is a verb with three definitions also:

  • To accept as true or real

  • To have religious belief

  • To exercise faith (Mark 5:36).

Again and again throughout Christ’s ministry here on earth He was trying to get His followers to trust and believe in; His/our unseen Father (God).

The woman with the issue of blood was healed and Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has made you well.  Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” (Mark 5:34 and Luke 8:48)

Jairus’ daughter was healed when Jesus said, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” (Mark 5:36 and Luke 8:50)

In “every” miracle that Jesus did; it was the trust, belief and faith in the receiver that had healed the person or situation; think about that, Church!

In Hebrews chapter 11 verse 6 it says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists AND that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”  Throughout all of Chapter 11 in Hebrews it tells us of examples of people of faith in the Old Testament.  And in the New Testament, the Book of James tells us how faith works.  Read the Book of James and it will tell us how we are to get through these last days with “Faith in God.”

Again, I like the way Oswald Chambers has put his comments on Hebrews 11:8:

“Living a life of faith” means never knowing where you are being led.  But it does mean loving and knowing the ONE who is leading.  It is literally a life of faith, not of understanding and reason--a life of knowing Him who calls us to go.  A life of faith is not a life of one glorious mountaintop experience after another, but is a life of day-in and day-out consistency; a life of walking without fainting.”

We have this life Church, if we only:

                                                              TRUST AND BELIEVE GOD
