The Holy Spirit and Times and Seasons

     Good morning, Saints. I was lead to go back to Acts this morning. In fact, Acts chapter one where it is telling us of what Jesus said right before His Ascension, talking to His apostles and to us.

Jesus starts off by telling His apostles about how they/we will ‘be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.’ (Acts 1:5) Jesus had to ascend to fulfill the scriptures, ‘He will sit at the right hand of the Father.’ But He wouldn’t leave without giving us the Power and Authority to bare witness to the world of forgiveness of sin and Eternal Life with the Father.

Acts 1:8

     “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

     Now with His ascension emanate the Apostles asked Him this question: “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel” (Acts 1:6)

Acts 1:7

     “And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.” This statement has a reference back to Matthew chapter 24 verse 36:

     “But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of heaven, (nor the Son) but My Father only.”

     The Father’s Plan has been “set” even before the beginning of time. We don’t need to know the why’s, how’s or wherefore’s of it—just trust and believe in God’s Love for us “through it”. As Jesus said we don’t know the exact time, but reading the rest of the verses in Matthew 24 gives us a very good idea of the circumstances before God’s coming again. Read it for yourself—sound familiar? Like now?

     We now need to go back to where Jesus’ Promise comes in “full force.” The Promise of the Holy Spirit and what He accomplishes “IN” and “THROUGH” us.

John 15: 26 and 16:8-11;13

     “But when the Helper/Comforter comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, (Acts 2:1-4 read for yourself) the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of me.”

     “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.”

Verse 13:

     “However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak (just as Jesus did-John 12: 49-50) and He will tell you things to come.”

God The Father; God The Son; God The Holy Spirit—“OUR TRINITY IN ONE!”

     Church, these words were said about two thousand years ago, but are even more Powerful today because of the signs of the times and seasons. We need to step away from the flesh and self and embrace our Maker and Creator by listening to His Spirit “within us”. Letting God’s Word come alive “in” us through His Spirit; asking God for forgiveness of our sins—then accepting His Forgiveness is the first ’important’ step in our “OPEN” communication with our Father. Forgiving ourselves and others comes a close next. God is Faithful and just to forgive us of our sins.
