SPOKESMEN FOR GOD

As I was being quiet this morning the name Joel came into my mind.  So I went back and read the Book of Joel again to see what the Lord had for me today.

Joel was a prophet of the Lord around the time of 835-796 B.C. As like God’s other Spokesmen; Amos, (Amos 5:18); Isaiah, (Isaiah 13:6); and Jeremiah, (Jeremiah 46:10), Joel was also talking about the “Day of the Lord” to God’s People.  I believe the text from Pastor John Hagee’s New King James Version was totally on target.  Let me quote:

“In the days of Joel swarms of locust devastated the land of Judah (I: 4), destroying the economic base of the country (1:10-12, 17-20) and leaving its people destitute and in shock (1:16).  This locust plague, asserted Joel, was sent by God as a wake-up call (1:5) to rouse His people from their many sins.  Joel used this plague as a picture of something far more catastrophic—the invasion of an army with the power to turn land as fertile as the Garden of Eden into a devastating wilderness (2:1-11).  The only hope was to respond to God’s call for repentance (2:12-17).

Both the locust plague, an event in Joel’s past, and the invasion, an event that lay in the near future, were but harbingers of a far greater act of God in the distant future, the cosmic “day of the Lord” in which the nations would fall under the judgment of God (3:12,13) while the faithful would live in bounty and peace forever (3:18,20-21). (Remember the writing on “Our Future”)

Church, I’ve written many times on how our lives parallel the Jewish history.  About how the Jewish People turned away from God and sinned; even to the point of rejecting God’s Only Son, Jesus Christ when He was here on earth.  A ‘rejecting’ that is happening in a lot of people more and more in these last days before the Lord’s coming back.

A lot of the Churches and people are not “seeing” the harbingers that are unfolding right before our eyes in the world today.  And unless we focus with our Spiritual “eyes” we are going to make the same mistakes as Israel made in missing the real underlying TRUTH of what God is trying to get His People to see---without repentance of our sins we will NOT be able to spend eternity with Our God.  Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is the ONLY WAY to do that; which was accomplished over 2000 years ago on the Cross with His Sinless Blood as our sacrifice.  We are going to get trials, tribulations, plagues, devastations, and even death sometimes, but knowing Who we are in Christ will keep us through these things and in God’s Hands until He calls us Home to Himself.

Saints, the Day of the Lord is coming.  And the Power and Authority that was given to every Born Again Person on that Cross through Christ’s Blood is the ONLY WAY to Heaven.  Every human being has a “soul” from God and our souls will NEVER DIE because they are Spirit.  When our physical bodies die our souls have only two places to go---Heaven or Hell---that is a TRUTH from God.

God has His Spokesmen even today.  I am God’s Spokesman and so are you if you have God as the Lord of your life.  We need to read God’s Word for ourselves and know the Holy Spirit’s leading and guiding through us for God’s People and ourselves.  God’s Plan for Jews and Gentiles is about to come into position for the final assault between Good and Evil.  I’m going to be on God’s side, how about you?  I do not want to live through eternity without God; that is Hell.  What is our first step?
